Discovering Personal Genius

What is Discovery?

Discovering Personal Genius (DPG) is an employment planning tool and model for individual employment evaluation that results in a comprehensive vocational profile.
Discovery uses a person-centered community-based assessment approach that focuses on observation and trial in real-time community activities to determine the strengths, skills and interests of the focus person. It also includes exploration through informational interviews of potential employers in the community.
Self-Guided DPG allows a family or individual to work through the evaluation and planning processes on their own with the help of a facilitator or coach at key points in the process.

Who Should Attend? This training is appropriate for parents/family members of transition-age youth or young adults, teachers, vocational rehabilitation professionals, and others who support individuals with disabilities to gain employment in their community.

Provided by: Cary Griffin, Griffin Hammis Associates. Cary is a well-known, nationally recognized trainer, speaker and consultant. This training is supported by the Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities in partnership with the Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Both CEC’s and CRC’s will be made available.

GREAT EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES are possible with comprehensive, person-centered, community-based evaluation and planning.
