Take A Break On ASTV

Taking care of a child or adult on the autistic spectrum can be challenging. Being a parent on the autism spectrum can be difficult. Parents and other caregivers often don’t have enough time for themselves, and need a break to re-energize.

Because the Autism Society Treasure Valley (ASTV) recognizes the importance of caregivers taking care of themselves, they offer “Take A Break on ASTV”. Under this program, you will receive:

  •  a $25 restaurant gift certificate
  • 2 movie tickets; and
  • up to 4 hours of respite care for your dependent(s) at $10/hour (total $40)

How to Apply:

To participate in the Take A Break on ASTV program, please contact them via email at autism.asatvc@yahoo.com, or use the contact form. Please write “Take A Break” in the subject line and tell them:  who you are a caregiver for, and your home address.

ASTV awards two Take A Break packages each week. Requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Currently this program serves families in the Treasure Valley area of southern Idaho.

Guidelines For Respite Care:

Parents/caregivers are responsible for arranging the respite care. Family members are welcome to provide respite care, and we strongly recommend they are over the age of 18.

ASTV will pay the respite care provider directly. They will send you a form to give to your respite care provider to fill out and return to ASTV for payment after respite care services are provided.
